The letter from the CIA: A brief explanation
I was surprised to find a few pages of a book, "A question of torture: CIA interrogation, from the cold war to the war on terror," by Alfred W. McCoy, devoted to unsubstantiated allegations that Milgram's obedience research had likely been funded by the CIA. In response, I wrote a detailed rebuttal (found on this website), showing how the book’s claims are pure conjecture.
To lay this matter to rest, I wrote the CIA requesting, under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), all records they had pertaining to Stanley Milgram.
